Why an Apprenticeship?

If you are a 16-18 year old person out of work, an Apprenticeship is a great way of gaining sustainable employment. It also allows you to earn a regular weekly wage, while you work towards a recognised qualification and gaining valuable experience in a job sector, with more chance of gaining a permanent job within your placement at the end of your training.

Alternatively, you may already be in full time employment, but are looking to enhance your skills and progress your career. In addition, there are many opportunities for you if you are 18+ and looking to gain experience through the Apprenticeship scheme.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a work based training programme that provides a mixture of on and off the job training whilst in full time employment.

Training is tailored to meet the specific requirements of an individual's job role within the company they are employed.

An Apprenticeship programme is made up of an:

  • NVQ/QCF - A portfolio recording on the job activities and training, assessed at an individual’s place of work to ensure competence
  • Technical certificate - Designed as knowledge and theory based off the job training, to compliment on the job training and to meet specific requirements for a particular industry sector
  • Key skills – (Key skills or Functional Skills) are a generic set of skills required for any job role including areas covering Maths, English and Computer Literacy

A guide to the Apprenticeship is available in the resource area to the right. Alternatively you can contact us to discuss Apprenticeships.
